Changes
The changes in ZoomBrowser EX 5.8b from ZoomBrowser EX 5.8a are as follows.
New functions added in ZoomBrowser EX 5.8b
1. Support added for new Picture Style files.
The file extension has been changed to “.pf2” from the “.pse” extension currently used. We are sorry for the inconvenience, but please download the files again. Please note that the effect of the files has not been changed.
2. Support added for EOS-1D Mark III.
3. Corrected the problem of not being able to save image files developed from RAW images in RAW Image Task.
Corrected the bug of the [Save] button becoming unclickable when specifying a folder outside of the [username] folder as a destination for image files converted from RAW images in the RAW Image Task of ZoomBrowser EX in Windows Vista environments.
If you are using ZoomBrowser EX 2.x/3.x, please check the following things.
1. To update to ZoomBrowser EX 5.8b, ZoomBrowser EX 2.x/3.x needs to be installed on your computer.
2. It is necessary to transfer (convert) the database files.
Before using ZoomBrowser EX 5.8b for the first time, you need to transfer (convert) the database files used in ZoomBrowser EX 2.x/3.x to the database files for ZoomBrowser EX 5.8b.
If you use ZoomBrowser EX 5.8b without performing this conversion, the titles, comments, and sound-annotation information added in the previous versions will be lost.
To convert (transfer) the database files, see step 4 in the "Download and Installation" instructions on this page.
3. There are restrictions on folders under the Program Files folder.
ZoomBrowser EX 5.8b is designed not to display folders under [Program Files].
ZoomBrowser EX 5.8b cannot read images saved in the [Image Library One] folder (which was the default behavior in ZoomBrowser EX 2.x/3.x).
In order to view these files, please use Windows Explorer to relocate them from [Image Library One] to a destination outside of the [Program Files] directory.
Please make sure to relocate the image files and [Image Library One] after converting the database files.
4. RAW Image Converter 1.x can no longer be started.
In ZoomBrowser EX 2.x/3.x, RAW Image Converter could be started from within ZoomBrowser EX, but in ZoomBrowser EX 5.8b, RAW Image Converter cannot be started from within ZoomBrowser EX.
Please start RAW Image Converter individually (from the Start menu) when converting RAW images, or install File Viewer Utility and use it instead.
5. ZoomBrowser EX 5.8b does not come with a TWAIN interface, so please import images to your computer directly from ZoomBrowser EX.
6. Windows Meta Files and FlashPix are no longer supported.
7. The following functions have been removed.
7-1. Time Tunnel viewer
7-2. 360-degree viewer for panoramic images
7-3. Displaying the camera owner's name in slideshows
